End of Summer Blues

I have to be honest with all of you – Friday was a rough day for me. I was tired and frustrated with a number of things. Add these two together and you get a girl who will tear up at the drop of a hat.

This was before the JA pushed our plans for that night to Saturday because he and our Director of Alumni Relations (a classmate of his) were taking a new teacher out on the town. Oh, and did I mention that he was also running a two-day leadership retreat?

That retreat signified the end of summer for us. He was at school from 11a-8p on Friday and 8a-8p on Saturday. While I enjoyed the free time (getting some back-to-school shopping out of the way), it was bittersweet.

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer here. There are a number of things I love about fall. But the end of summer transition is still difficult for the JA and me and we’ve been dating almost two years. I’m optimistic that as we continue with our relationship that it will get easier. However, at this point in time, fall definitely has its drawbacks as well as its peaks.

Therefore, today we are determined to have what may be one of our last lazy Sundays for a while. Well, at least until Labor Day weekend. But that’s two long weeks away!!

Is there something that signifies the end of summer for you? Not only did the retreat act as a sign, but I wore my new boots yesterday. If that doesn’t say that fall’s almost here, I don’t know what does!
