Keeping the Faith is one of my all-time favorite movies. It’s one of those films that I can pick up at any point and recite word-for-word because I’ve seen it so much. The plot follows three childhood friends: two guys and a girl, who reconnect after many years apart. The twist? The guys grow up to be a priest and a rabbi, who both fall for the girl.
Ben Stiller plays the rabbi, Edward Norton plays the priest and Jenna Elfman‘s (obviously) the lady. I have to admit I’ve always had a soft spot for Ed, as he grew up in a suburb of Baltimore. Gotta root for the locals, you know?!
The movie also has a great supporting cast – all who make the film HYSTERICAL. This romantic comedy is not just that; it touches on some serious family issues, too. It’s a great date movie, obviously more geared to the ladies, but is still an enjoyable movie for the manfolk as well. The film is also not one where religion is the main focus point. Yes, it’s important that two of the main characters are in the religious life, but the film doesn’t preach on the topic. In fact, there are many scenes where religion is the basis for comedic relief.
In short, if you haven’t seen Keeping the Faith, I highly recommend it. Once you watch it, let me know what you think!
