This past Sunday, the JA and I attended our first Pre-Cana class. Admittedly, I had no idea of what to expect and thought spending all evening cooped up in a room learning about marriage from other people would be a bit tedious.
Good thing it wasn’t like that at all. I mean, we did hear about marriage from other couples, but following each ‘lecture’ topic, we split off with our significant other to complete worksheets and discuss the topic as individuals.
I’ve said this before in this whole wedding process, but it’s nice to know that we are on the same page with things. In completing our activities, we found that we are more in sync than we thought – a very reassuring thing, indeed. And while real-life situations can still present a very different reality than the hypothetical one on paper, the majority of topics discussed (communication styles/techniques, spirituality in your marriage and ‘division of labor’) will come in handy once we begin our married life.
While it was a bit lengthy (5 hours), we had a great time and it really helped in re-affirming that we’re in a good place and ready to start our marriage 🙂
